Batman
Batman kicks ass, just so you all know. Also, this looks suspiciously like Powdered Toast Man. Ren & Stimpy is also my favorite cartoon.

Absinthe Poster
Here is my copy of and Absinthe poster finished. Its one hell of a forgery if you ask me. I had the hardest time with the bottle. The text was also a challenge, hand drawing all those letters. I'm felling pretty good about this piece. If you want to see the original look further down my blog, its there.

IF: Tails & Legends
I've never been one to draw dragons, but when I was a kid I drew a lot of Dinosaurs. Hence my dragon looks like a T-Rex with wings. Anyway tails and legends make me think of knights and dragons fighting. I did this illustration in a couple hours at work. The knight figure is actually a 3d model from an old project. I don't know why but I really wanted to do a rounded composition for this piece. It seems to work really well with the shape of the dragon.

Plain Illustration (Tader the Tot)
Tader the Tot, He's my new cartoon character. I think I'm gonna have to throw this together really quick in flash. It's funny how when I make a comic it doesn't feel complete to me till I animate it. I scrapped my first Illustration Friday piece for this. I think I dreamt this because I woke up on Wednesday morning and drew most of it before I even showered.

First plain idea
This is one definition of plain I found in the dictionary.
Cards. being other than a face card or a trump. |
I figured 2&7 were pretty plain.
This is my line drawing and a thumbnail. I was drawing thumb nails on some sort of sticky note.
I have decided to scrap this idea. I did start to add color so I put the color version up here as well. My new illustration is close to done so I wont bore you with my pencil roughs.
Absinthe Poster Study
For my master study I chose an old Absinthe poster. I chose Absinthe because their posters not only have great illustration, but are great examples of good graphic design. As you can see mine is not quite done yet. I believe that the original was done in watercolors. I started out doing the flat color with acrylic because it seemed the most like Photoshop's brushes. When I applied the highlights and shadows I started using watercolor brushes and was pleased with the results. I also used the felt pen brush to do all the line work. I almost recreated the letters with Illustrator but thought it would be better to use Painter. So all the lettering was hand drawn as well. All in all I am very pleased with the way this piece is working out.

Yet another apple
I felt my header wasn't quite done as it was. I started out experimenting with the stock plants in 3ds max. I thought it would create a nice juxtaposition between realism and the cartoon look I already had. I ended up not using the 3d models because I wanted the header to be all original art work. So I threw this palm tree together in Illustrator. So I went from a 3d palm tree to a flat 2d palm tree. Anyway I like the way this palm tree turned out and I think its more unified than it would be with 3d models.

The Blog Header
If you ever go on deviantart.com or conceptart.org
you may notice that everyone draws girls, so in turn
this was my first idea. It's alright but not what I was
going for. You can probably expect to see her
pop up in a cartoon or something in the future.
I continued sketching and can up with this
I liked this better because there seemed to
be some dialog happening between the girl
and the turtle.
I decided to keep these two characters. So I
needed a scene to hang them on. He's a Turtle
and she's wearing a bikini. where would these
two meet? at the beach of course. So I drew this beach.
If you think it looks similar the beach we used in
the cartoon challenge your right. That beach was
illustrated by my good friend Joe Marc. I sampled
the colors and got this. It's in no way as good as
Joe's original, but he has decades of experience.
