Heres my progress on the apple so far. I added shadow, background, and a leaf so I actually have a composition. Hopefully I can think of some more element to strengthen the composition.

Just a word of advice on this work in progress. I can't really tell where the light source is coming from. Make sure that the reflected light on the sides of the apple aren't anywhere near at light as the highlight. Right now it looks like light is coming from all sides.
